etsy1Morning Everyone! Well, I’ve been on Etsy for a little while now selling a different type of item than my usual custom stationery (although I’m starting to get more and requests for that) so I figured I’d post a shameless plug about my Etsy store this morning! If you head over there and peruse my store you’ll find a wide assortment of unusual wedding and shower labels, return address labels (circular I might add), shipping labels, and theme inspired family trees. I’ve been having a great time chatting with people all over the country and even Switzerland! There are also plenty of wildy talented folks who sell their hand crafted items on Etsy. It’s a wonderful resource for an unusual, personal, and hand  made gift item.

Thanks!

Kate

Today we had the pleasure of finding a new tree farm in Tiverton, RI where we could walk around the farm and tag our tree. We’ve always gone to the same tree farm in Portsmouth and unfortunately this year there weren’t too many trees to choose from so we had to branch out and find a new farm. This is important to me because when I was growing up my dad & grandfather had a tree farm across from my dad’s house and sold xmas trees to local residents. It was a great way to pick out a tree back then and I still like to go to a tree farm to pick out our christmas tree.

We found Boland’s Tree farm, located at 97 South Lake Road, Tiverton, RI today. It’s set pretty far back off the street and once we parked we made our way into the barn. I knew we found our place as soon as we went in! The barn smelled of horses and was decorated for the holiday season inside. They even had an area with goats and pigs. They take you on a hay ride out to where the trees are and then you are free to roam about and pick out your tree. We even passed a horse just enjoying the sunshine and nibbling on some grass on our way out to the trees. It didn’t take us too long to find our tree and at that point we just had to yell out “Danny!” and a nice gal came over to tag and measure our tree. (really, anyone will come by and tag/measure your tree if you call out “Danny!”….guess that’s the way it works there….kinda cool!)

Back at the barn they have hot chocolate and hot cider available free of charge and they also have an assortment of wreaths and ornaments for sale. All in all it was a great time and a great way to pick out our Christmas tree! I can’t wait to head back there to pick it up!!

Here’s a picture of Jay with our tree for this year…..nice!

I’d like to switch gears a little bit today and share with you a place you MUST stop at if you are ever driving through Cumberland, RI. This was my favorite ice cream stand growing up and my husband and I stopped in there last week. Wouldn’t you know it they still have the wooden cow sign out front welcoming guests in but now there is also a baby cow to add to the fun and you just can’t help but smile. Pretty much everything is as I remember (the last time I was there was probably 4 years ago now and before that I can’t remember) and the ice cream was as good as ever!! A  note on the serving sizes….they seem to have become even larger over the years! I ordered a medium and could only eat half of it!! My favorite flavor is chocolate chip although they have many more exotic flavors to choose from. I ordered my old standby and sure enough they still have full size chocolate chips….what a delight! Just sitting there, enjoying an ice cream brought back alot of happy memories of going there with my family. Thanks ICE CREAM MACHINE!
