Last year my mother-in-law wanted to throw a little party for my father-in-law’s 60th birthday and wanted it to be a surprise. She wanted to have some sort of theme that he would like and thought that a fun loving Jimmy Buffett type theme would fit the bill since he loves the music and is a sailor. So, she set off to plan the party and asked me to come up with some invitations. Nothing too fancy she said, as she only needed about 8 of them and needed to get them out relatively quickly. So, I decided to use papers already on hand but wanted to do something a little bit special so I decided to create a logo of sorts for his invitations that we also used to order a T-shirt and to make signs for the food tables. He loved it and the party was a great success. 
I had the pleasure of working on a delightful project over the last week! I got a phone call with a fun request to create a package for a couple who was celebrating their 20th anniversary and the husband happened to also be celebrating his 50th birthday.
The woman who called me had the idea to give them a weekend at their home to include all sorts of fun events culminating with a party over the weekend. So, it was my challenge come up with the design to pull this all together. An itinerary of sorts was created outlining the weekend of events and invitations for the weekend party were also included. It all had to go together and be packaged in such a way that it could be presented to them as a gift.
I think it came out great and it was a lot of fun to do as well!
A little late is better than never but my husband deserves a blog posting all his own….or at least the birthday party invitation I designed for him does! His family and I planned a surprise 30th birthday party for him at a local restaurant last March and I certainly couldn’t plan something like that without a fabulous invitation to invite his friends.
We used his favorite color (green) and embarrassed him only slightly while keeping the event a surprise. In the end he was genuinely surprised, happy and his 30th birthday hopefully stung just a little bit less.
